Watches & Wonders 2025: Eberhard & Co. presents the new "Contodat"
Eberhard & Co surprises with a new collection - or rather a revitalised one. We are talking about "Contodat". The name was registered back in 1955, but the two première models are based on a more recent watch, as Mario Peserico, General Manager of Eberhard & Co, explains.

"The origins of the 'Contodat' collection lie in a model from the 1970s that was originally only offered as a chronograph, and it is not a mere reissue. Rather, it is an entirely new collection, characterised by a sporty style while retaining a classic aura. A true 'loyalty' to mechanical watchmaking, which the company has believed in from the very beginning and which continues to guide us in our vision for the future," explains Mario Peserico, General Manager of Eberhard & Co.
The watch in question was an early mechanical chronograph and appeared in the middle of the so-called quartz crisis, when mechanical watches seemed to be disappearing from the watch world. The timepiece was characterised by striking lines and a contrasting colour scheme.
Almost half a century later, Eberhard & Co. is reviving its own past in the form of the "Contodat" collection. The orange colour of the second hand of the 1970s model can also be found here on the dial, for the second hand and various markings.
"Contodat Automatic" and "Contodat Chronographe" are both equipped with a 39-millimetre stainless steel case that is water-resistant to ten bar - a format that reflects the spirit of the times, then as now. Polished and satin-finished elements alternate, as does the integrated bracelet.

The dial of the chronograph underlines its functionality with blue, green or argenté, while the three-hand model also offers the colours grey and black.
In the "Contodar Automatic" version, the accentuating orange colours the central seconds hand and the "60″ marker. The "Contodat Chronographe" version uses the signal colour for the central chronograph second hand and the 30-minute counter scale.
The hour and minute hands also make their rounds with a new design characterised by a three-dimensional structure with stepped surfaces. The central area houses the luminous material.

"The inspiration for the 'Contodat' collection stems from the desire to bring the spirit of a watch that was a defining moment for our brand to life in the present with contemporary features. Just as Eberhard & Co. met the challenge of quartz with a highly original mechanical watch that added unexpected touches of colour, today, in uncertain times, the same spirit has led us to create a new collection characterised by the same energetic colour scheme, unique lines and compactly dimensioned case," comments Barbara Monti, CEO of Eberhard & Co. and daughter of Palmiro Monti, who took over the company from founder Georges-Lucien Eberhard in 1969.
