The Platform Group acquires secondhand luxury platform Joli Closet

The Düsseldorf-based software company is continuing its expansion strategy. It now operates in 26 industries, both B2B and B2C, with its own platform solutions. At the end of last year, The Platform Group acquired the online watch retailer Chronext.

The latest addition is Paris-based Joli Closet, in which the platform operator has acquired a majority stake (50.1%) from an investment company owned by the founders. The transaction is expected to close in June 2025. The purchase price has been kept confidential.

The platform for pre-owned luxury products from the fashion, handbag, shoe, and watch categories was founded in 2015 and has listed over 220,000 products with an average value of €750. Several thousand dealers sell their products through the platform. Quality and authenticity checks are carried out by in-house staff in Paris.

Christopher Pourtale and Sandra Yamamura, founders and managing directors of Joli Closet: "As founders of Joli Closet, we are proud to announce our joint future with Platform Group. Our position as a platform in the vintage luxury market is unique. Our flagship brands are Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Chanel, and Gucci. Together with TPG's successful platforms such as fashionette, Chronext, and Winkelstraat, we can tap into the entire luxury universe and expand into new markets."

The aim of the acquisition of Joli Closet is to further expand TPG's luxury division and significantly strengthen the vintage segment of the existing luxury platforms fashionette, Winkelstraat, Chronext and Brandfield.

"With the acquisition of Joli Closet, we are tapping into the pre-owned luxury goods market, a market with a global volume of over €40 billion, for the first time with our own platform. In particular, we will directly connect our existing luxury platforms such as fashionette and Winkelstraat, thus significantly expanding the vintage segment."

"Closet has been owner-managed since 2015 and has managed a merchandise volume of over €300 million on the platform with several thousand retailers. We now look forward to further expanding this success story from Paris and expanding it to other countries and industries."
