"S.A.R. Rescue-Timer" from Mühle-Glashütte - for sea rescuers and nautical fans

In 2002, Mühle-Glashütte released the first "SAR Rescue Timer." It was developed jointly with the German Maritime and Naval Forces (DGzRS) and has been supporting sea rescuers in their challenging daily work for 20 years.

It has proven itself in numerous rescue missions and is also popular with sports and sailing enthusiasts. Since its initial launch, the "SAR Rescue Timer" has sold well over 10,000 watches and has become an icon of the manufacturer.

Mühle-Glashütte not only looks back on various versions of the operational watch, but also on an equally long and close relationship with the people for whose needs the robust timepiece is designed: the sea rescuers of the German Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecked People (DGzRS).

"We maintain a very intensive relationship with the GDzRS. It is not just a business relationship; we have become friends," emphasizes Thilo Mühle, Managing Director of Mühle-Glashütte – seen here on board a sea rescue cruiser on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the "SAR Rescue-Timer" in 2022.

"By always listening to the people who wear this watch, we've learned a great deal. The watch hasn't changed much over time; the design has essentially always remained the same. The 'SAR' is our icon and symbolizes what we stand for," Mühle continued.

But: "When you have an icon in your collection, it's difficult to develop it further so that it's far enough from its predecessors, but close enough to the DNA of the watch family."

This has now been achieved again. The result is a version in nautical blue with brilliant white indices.

From the dial to the case, the rubber bezel to the optional rubber strap: the color of the sea is reflected in every component of this Mühle watch.

This is most noticeable in the new dial with its striking hour indices and the characteristic marker triangles at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock, which are coated with white luminous material. In addition to the nautical look, this design ensures effortless legibility in all situations.

With this “SAR Rescue Timer,” a new metal bracelet variant is also being introduced into the collection, with the intermediate links made of solid stainless steel.

In addition, the wearer can continue to enjoy the well-known features of the Mühle field watch: A four-millimeter-thick, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal ensures an unobstructed view of the dial at all times.

The 42-millimeter stainless steel case can withstand water pressure of up to 100 bar.

The automatic movement SW 200-1 from Sellita in the Mühle version ensures reliable precision.

The automatic movement, including a Mühle rotor and a particularly shock-resistant woodpecker neck regulation, is regulated in six positions in the Glashütte manufactory and adjusted so that its rate values lie between 0 and +8 seconds per day.

The in-house regulation specification is based on the chronometer standard.
