Junghans presents the "Telemeter" in blue and green

In 1951, Junghans presented the first chronograph combining a telemeter and tachymeter display. Last year, the Schramberg-based watch manufacturer unveiled a limited-edition reinterpretation of the historic timepiece, featuring the elegant yet sporty look of a classic chronograph of the era.

The model for the "Telemeter Edition JF" was one of the rare gold models that Hannes Steim acquired from the family of a deceased friend. The managing partner of Junghans was so impressed by this special piece that he wanted a new interpretation of this sporty yet elegant model.

“Originally, only a single piece was to be made for me, but the new watch found so many fans in the company that we made a small series of it,” reports Hannes Steim.

And this was also noticed outside the company. The expert jury of the Inhorgenta Awards 2025 selected the gold "Telemeter Edition" as first place in the "Watch Design of the Year" category.

New colors for the “Telemeter”

Junghans has now released another, strictly limited edition of this timepiece. In addition to the new dial colors blue and green, a stainless steel case without gold PVD coating now complements the retro line.

And that's no coincidence. As an instrument clock, the "Telemeter" was primarily built with a steel case in the 1950s.

The eponymous telemeter scale is printed on a gray background in both new interpretations. It was originally designed to measure the distances of events that emit both light and sound.

The additional tachymeter scale is printed on the outside of the dial and is used to measure average speeds. The domed dial with luminous numerals is covered by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, ensuring excellent readability.

The chronograph is powered by the automatic caliber J880.3 movement, whose surfaces are finished with rhodium. Polished details on various movement components and the rotor, as well as blue screws, delight the eye of the observer looking through the transparent caseback.

The new interpretations are worn on leather straps in brown or green. Each version is limited to 150 pieces. (RRP €2,490 and €2,590, respectively)
