Leica presents "ZM 1" and "ZM 2" in green
Leica's "ZM" watch series, first introduced in February 2022, was supplemented in 2023 with the all-black "ZM Monochrom" edition. Now the premium manufacturer of cameras, lenses, and sports optics is venturing into green versions.
The “ZM 1” and “ZM 2” in the Urban Green color scheme feature this with a rich gradient to black on the fumé-noir aluminum dial with vertical satin-finish under the domed sapphire crystal.

A hallmark of Leica watches is the patented pusher, which, when pressed briefly, sets the time. This causes the second hand to jump to zero, simplifying setting to the second. The date can be adjusted using the quick-set crown at 2 o'clock.

The design was created by Professor Achim Heine, who has designed numerous Leica products and is intimately familiar with the company's philosophy and aesthetics. Subtle references to the camera manufacturer's history can be found, reminiscent of the front elements of a camera lens. These include the shape of the 41-millimeter case, the special knurling of the crowns, and the domed crystal.

Made of Germany is an important aspect of Leica's corporate philosophy, and so the movement and most of the watch components are manufactured in the Lehmann watch factory in the Black Forest.
Professor Achim Heine explains: "Together with Markus Lehmann, we expanded and refined the idea of the push-button crown. Unlike conventional designs—where the crown must be pulled out all the way and the movement stopped to set the time—we wanted the crown to be pushed down, like the shutter button on a camera. The moment the crown is pushed, the watch stops and the small second hand jumps to zero. Another click restarts the movement. This is an unusual detail that perfectly suits Leica."

The heart of the “ZM 1 Urban Green” is the hand-wound Leica caliber LH-01 movement with a 60-hour power reserve and date function and quick date setting with pusher.

The "ZM 2 Urban Green" also features a 12-hour inner bezel designed specifically for this model, which displays a second time zone via the hour hand. The GMT crown is located at the 4 o'clock position and rotates and clicks silently into place every hour. The day/night function is integrated into the inner bezel configuration. The hand-wound Leica Caliber LH-02 movement, also with a 60-hour power reserve, provides precise power.
