"Blancpain X Swatch" presents the Royal Goddess of the Sea - and a new "Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms"
The latest addition to the "Blancpain x Swatch" mariage, released in September 2023, is called "Green Abyss." Unlike the "Omega x Swatch" collaboration "MoonSwatch," this affordable version of Blancpain's "Fifty Fathoms" diver's watch, first released in 1953, is a mechanical timepiece.
The "Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms" collection, water-resistant to 9 bar (50 fathoms, or 91 meters), is technically based on the "Sistem51," Swatch's 2013 mechanical watch, whose automatic Swiss-made movement consists of just 51 parts, composed of five pre-assembled modules, including a central screw. It is anti-magnetic thanks to a Nivachron hairspring and offers a 90-hour power reserve.

“Green Abyss” by “Blancpain X Swatch”: a green abyss and a royal sea snail
In terms of color, this watch, with its deep green and sandy beige nuances, is inspired by the mysterious depths of the oceans, which remain largely unexplored to this day. This color scheme is realized using castor oil-based bioceramic. It is used for the 42.3-millimeter case as well as the loop and clasp of the strap, which is made from recycled fishing nets.

The black dial with green shading of the "Green Abyss" model, which features a 60-minute diving scale on a unidirectional rotating bezel, features a two-tone water contact indicator at 6 o'clock to detect traces of moisture.

Since 1954, Blancpain has incorporated this function into certain models intended for diving clubs and military units. A change in the color of the sensor indicates moisture. Several "Fifty Fathoms" models with this two-color sensor bear the "MIL-SPEC" designation in accordance with U.S. Navy specifications.
The "Green Abyss" shares other features with the famous "Fifty Fathoms," including anti-magnetic protection, a secure rotating bezel, and easy legibility. Furthermore, the "Swatch" logo appears on the left side of the case, just like "Blancpain" on the original "Fifty Fathoms."
However, the “Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms” makes a unique claim to the design of the back, which is decorated with a different sea snail in each version.

The "Green Abyss" exhibit features a digital print of the Felimare picta, a brightly colored sea slug also known as the "Regal Sea Goddess." It is usually found on the seafloor and is a prime example of the countless wonders of colorful diversity in the depths of the oceans.

The back of the watch also features the inscriptions “Passion for Diving,” “Licence to Explore,” “Ocean Breath,” “Protect what you Love,” and “Immerse Yourself.”

The “Green Abyss” has been available in selected Swatch stores worldwide since June 7, 2025, and is limited to one watch per person, per store, per day.
