Ahoy! White sportiness from Nomos Glashütte

Nomos Glashütte has recently been making a name for itself with its color. The Glashütte-based manufacturer is also an expert in stylish watches in the non-colors of black and white, as well as the shades in between.

The "Ahoi" collection therefore returns to classic white with its latest innovation – with subtle color accents. The "Ahoi neomatik 38 Date" features a versatile 38.5-millimeter case, equipped with a water resistance of 20 bar – recognizable by the engraved whale on the six-screw caseback, which is available with or without sapphire crystal.

Added to this is the signature "Ahoi" flank protection, which identifies the collection as Nomos' sportiest, but in no way diminishes its suitability as a dress watch. This is also ensured by the flat overall construction with a total height of just 9.9 millimeters.

This is made possible by the use of the DUW 6101 neomatik automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve. The in-house manufactured self-winding caliber is equipped with the patented Nomos date mechanism with quick-set function in both directions. It also allows for the date to be placed very far out on the dial, as the date ring is wrapped around the DUW 6101.

This not only creates aesthetic proportions, but also allows for a relatively large display and thus comfortable legibility. This is further enhanced by the characteristic Nomos typography, in which the date numerals are wider than they are tall.

Further features of the DUW 6101 include the bidirectional winding rotor and the in-house Nomos Swing System for precise running.

Its performance is evident on the galvanized, white-silver-plated dial, which masters the art of subtle color accents. These can be found on the light blue hands, which are coated with green luminous Superluminova, the gold neomatik lettering, the red second hand, and the equally red warning ring of the screw-down crown. The latter, however, is only visible if the wearer forgets to screw the crown back in after setting the time.

The "Ahoi neomatik 38 Date" is secured on the wrist with a textile strap featuring a Nomos wing clasp. The white version completes the "Ahoi" quartet with a 38.5-millimeter diameter, which also includes dials in Atlantic blue, sand, and sky blue.
