The Seiko brand Credor is now also available in Europe

Credor was founded in 1974 as an exclusive watch brand by Seiko. Its range includes models with simple designs and technically complex components. The name comes from the French "Crête d'Or" ("golden lace").

And in France, it was also announced that Credor will now also be available outside of Japan. The ceremony was held at Place Vendôme in Paris, in the Grand Seiko boutique: another Seiko luxury brand, which was founded in 1960, but only launched a sustainable global distribution strategy around 2017.

At the official launch of Credor in Paris Akio Naito, President of Seiko Watch Corporation, and Shibasaki Munehisa, Director and Senior Vice President of Seiko Watch Corporation, were present.

At launch, the brand will only be available in a very limited number of retail outlets outside Japan, including the Grand Seiko boutique in Paris.

Among the Credor models available for purchase there is the new “Locomotive GCCR997”: a reinterpretation of a watch designed in the 1970s by watch designer Gérald Genta (pictured below), who died in 2011.

Gerald Genta

He is responsible for such iconic timepieces as the “Nautilus” by Patek Philippe, the “Pasha de Cartier” by Cartier, the “Royal Oak” by Audemars Piguet, the “Constellation” by Omega, the “Overseas” by Vacheron Constantin and the “Ingenieur” by IWC.

Therefore, Evelyne Genta was also present at the launch of the "Locomotive." She ran the Genta company alongside her husband and was responsible for operations, finance, marketing, and sales. She was accompanied in Paris by her daughter, Alexia Genta.

In 2024, the "Locomotive" watch, designed by Gérald Genta, was reissued as a limited commemorative edition for the 50th anniversary of the Credor brand. Now, a new version with a green dial is being released. This model marks the beginning of a new design series from the brand, featuring creations inspired by the "Locomotive" design.

As with the 2024 creation, the hexagonal motif is a defining feature of the entire design – from the case and bezel to the crown, bezel screws, and bracelet.

This also applies to the dial of the new model, which features a complex geometric pattern of hexagons. Each hexagon features a striped pattern that alternates in different directions, creating a shimmering effect.

The 38.8-millimeter case and bracelet, water-resistant to 10 bar, are made of titanium. Precision is ensured by the new automatic caliber CR01 with a 45-hour power reserve.
