BVSU statistics in May: Slight lull for watches and jewellery
Import and export figures for watches and jewelry show a slight decline in May 2025, but are still significantly up year-on-year compared to 2024.

Jewelry in May: slight weakening, good year-on-year comparison
The Federal Association of Jewelry, Watches, Silverware and Related Industries (BVSU) has published import and export statistics for jewelry, watches, and watch parts for May. Compared to the very positive previous month of April, the industry suffered slight losses. One consolation: compared to the previous year, 2024, the figures still look very good.
In May, the export volume for jewelry was €559 million, a slight decrease of 2.9 percent compared to April, when the export volume was €575 million. Year-on-year, May performed well, with a respectable increase of 26.9 percent – the export volume for 2024 was €408 million.
Jewelry imports totaled €491 million, a significant decrease compared to April, when imports totaled €598 million, representing a 21.7 percent decline. However, year-on-year, imports increased by 25.9 percent to €364 million in 2024.

The watches in May: slight increase in imports, weakening exports
Exports of watches and watch parts declined significantly in May. The decline amounts to 12.5 percent – a volume of 138 million euros in euros. The previous month's export volume was 155 million euros. Year-on-year, the outlook is also not so rosy: In May 2024, the export volume was 170 million euros, corresponding to a decline of 23.3 percent.
Imports are looking a bit better: In May, watches and watch parts worth around €223 million were imported, representing an increase of 4.2 percent compared to April, when the volume was €214 million. Year-on-year, this represents an increase of 8.9 percent, compared to €203 million in April.
