Parmigiani Fleurier and the generous use of Ultra-Cermet
The master of quiet luxury and minimalist design—without constantly quoting himself—is also a master when it comes to materials. And this doesn't just involve stainless steel and precious metals.
This is now manifested in the "Tonda PF Sport Ultra-Cermet." The exciting materiality is already contained in the name: CER stands for ceramic and MET for metal.
At Parmigiani Fleurier, titanium forms the metallic component of the Ultra-Cermet, which the manufacturer has used generously – from the case to the fluted bezel, crown, pushers, and bracelet clasp. What sounds simple took three years to develop. It's no wonder it's the first watch of its kind ever.
A parallel immediately becomes apparent. The Swiss brand is adept at combining complex functions with ease of use – to the great benefit of both wearers.
This also applies to the choice of Ultra-Cermet material. The three-year investment is well worth it for the owners of the new "Tonda PF Sport Ultra-Cermet."
This composite material, made of ceramic materials in a metallic matrix, is characterized by particularly high hardness and wear resistance. At the same time, cermet combines the temperature resistance of ceramic with the lightness of metal.

Guido Terreni, CEO of Parmigiani Fleurier: "For us, watchmaking is not simply a heritage to be preserved, but a living intelligence to be continually refined. We remove the superfluous to reveal the essential: the graceful harmony of proportions, the unshakeable truth of materials, and the quiet serenity of function."
The housing – Cermet through and through
Parmigiani Fleurier is the first watchmaker to craft an entire case from cermet. From the case center to the pushers, every detail was designed with utmost precision. Assembly, with its 72 different components, takes a full day.

And the look of the case, which is water-resistant to 10 bar, is just right. The anthracite-colored, satin-finished case subtly captures the light, emphasizing the modern aesthetic. The properties of cermet enable a unique light reflection that creates metallic effects while simultaneously emphasizing the minimalist design.
The drive – COSC-certified precision
Inside the 42.5-millimeter case, the integrated chronograph caliber PF070 beats at a brisk frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour. Precision is guaranteed by certification by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC).

The dial – spoilt for choice
Fortunately, there are only two tasteful dial options to choose from: Milano Blue and London Grey. Both are finished with Blackor (9-carat gold and nickel plating) with a gray-black hue. Both demonstrate their colorful individuality in the subdials.

The functional displays are provided by hand-applied, fluorescent indices made of 18-carat gold as well as hour and minute hands, which are also made of 18-carat gold and are fluorescent.

The "Tonda PF Sport Ultra-Cermet" models are worn on color-coordinated rubber straps. (RRP €45,000)
