Two new classics for the Mondaine "Classic" collection
Mondaine is expanding its "Classic" collection with two 40-millimetre timepieces that follow the Swiss brand's minimalist design concept.
This is achieved with stainless steel mesh bracelets in IP brown and IP blue, which are easily interchangeable thanks to a quick-release system. Added to this is a brushed stainless steel case and, of course, the classic Mondaine dial under sapphire crystal.

The black hour and minute numerals, along with the signature red second hand, create a striking contrast against the white background. A reliable Swiss quartz movement ensures precision. (RRP €289)
The “Classic” collection first appeared in 1986, when Mondaine launched the first collection to use the design of the Swiss railway clock for a wristwatch.

The Swiss Railway Clock was originally developed in 1944 by Hans Hilfiker, an engineer for the Swiss Federal Railways.
Its design marked a significant departure from the ornate dials of Art Nouveau toward a minimalist approach with a white background, hour and minute markers in the form of simple black rectangles, geometric hands, and finally, a striking red second hand with a red disc.
This disc, inspired by the dial used by the dispatchers who dispatched trains at stations, made it possible to read the clock to the second, even from a distance.
Mondaine's "Classic" collection made this design accessible to everyone as a wristwatch for the first time and continues to follow the principle of clean, minimalist aesthetics. The collection has been continuously expanded and reinterpreted in various colors and materials, remaining one of Mondaine's most popular collections to this day.
