Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève 2025: the nominees are finalised and the jury gets to work

The 90 watches nominated for this year's Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève GPHG have been finalised. This marks the start of the jury's work under the chairmanship of Nick Foulkes, British historian, author and journalist. 30 personalities from the world of watchmaking and art will select the winners of the prestigious prize behind closed doors.

Half of the jury members are selected by the jury president, the other half by drawing lots from the Academy. The entire Academy, consisting of over 1,050 key figures from the most important sectors of the watch industry, also takes part in the selection of the winners via digital voting, which accounts for a third of the final result.

Jury President Nick Foulkes explains:

Nick Foulkes

"Looking at the list of this year's competition watches, it's hard not to feel proud to be associated with such a resilient, imaginative and inspiring industry. The immense variety of timepieces selected by the Academy, scrutinised by the members of our illustrious jury, demonstrates the enormous scope for individual expression in watchmaking. I am often asked whether I get bored of looking at watches after so many decades. In response, I challenge anyone to look at this year's selection without being mesmerised."

The 90 nominated watches, divided into 15 categories, will compete for 20 prizes, including the prestigious "Grand Prix Aiguille d'Or", which will be presented on 13 November in Geneva as part of the 25th GPHG awards ceremony. The ceremony will be broadcast live on gphg.org.

In the run-up to the ceremony, the nominated watches will be exhibited in China, Turkey and subsequently in Switzerlandbefore travelling to Dubai, where the winning models will be presented once the prize list has been announced.
