The "Iron Walker" line from Wempe presents its first full calendar

"All of our knowledge of steel watches goes into the striking design of the 'Iron Walker' line," explained Kim-Eva Wempe (Managing Partner of Gerhard D. Wempe GmbH & Co. KG.) five years ago on the occasion of the launch of the "Iron Walker" line as part of the Wempe watch brand.

However, the name had already been patented ten years earlier. "Inspired by a reportage about American steel construction workers who work without protection and assemble the skeleton of a skyscraper, the idea of a watch with a precise stainless steel case and integrated lugs was born," says Bernhard Stoll, CEO Wempe Watch Division.

The idea became reality with the "Iron Walker". Wempe describes the line as follows: high-quality sports watches with elegant everyday chic for price-conscious customers.

With this in mind, numerous variants have since appeared - from chronographs, dress watches and GMTs to diver and tide models - which have now been supplemented by the line's first full calendar, which is also equipped with a moon phase.

The "Iron Walker Full Calendar Moon Phase" displays the date, the day of the week, the month and the position of the moon fully automatically. Only five short manual corrections are required per year, at the end of each month with 30 or fewer days. The moon phase, whose cycle lasts a rounded 29.5 days, also rotates automatically.

The full calendar and moon phase are set using correction pushers that are discreetly recessed into the side of the case.

The functionality of the ETA 2892-A2 automatic movement (Dubois Dépraz 5900 module) with a 42-hour power reserve naturally also includes the precise time. Thanks to the stop-seconds function, the time can be set to the second.

To ensure that it fulfils Wempe's standards, it is assembled and finely regulated with a calendar and moon phase module in the company's own manufactory in Glashütte, so that it passes the German chronometer test while encased in the case.

Thanks to Superluminova on the hour and minute hands and indices, the certified chronometer is always easy to read, even in poor lighting conditions.

The protective frame is formed by the 42-millimetre stainless steel case, water-resistant to ten bar, with matt and polished sides and a screw-down crown and back.

The Iron Walker full calendar moon phase is worn on a three-link, integrated stainless steel bracelet with a safety folding clasp, the links of which are tapered to make it comfortable to wear.
