The watchmaking towns of La Chaux-de-Fonds and Le Locle are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and form the historical and industrial heart of Swiss watchmaking, a symbol of craftsmanship that is unique in the world.
Thanks to the new watchexplorer.swiss platform launched by Neuchâtel Tourism, visitors can immerse themselves in the world of timekeeping in unusual ways.
With numerous experiences ranging from guided tours to hands-on workshops, the programme allows visitors to discover the city on their own terms.swiss watchmaking. Whether layman or connoisseur, alone, with the family or in a group: in Neuchâtel, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Le Locle and other iconic towns in the canton, everyone can discover what has made the heart of watchmaking beat for centuries: Passion, precision and innovation.
The varied programme is aimed at all watch enthusiasts - from newcomers to experts:
- Tour of watch manufacturers (from CHF 50)
- Introduction to watchmaking in a practical workshop on a practice watch (from CHF 190)
- Assembly of your own watch under the guidance of an expert (from CHF 915)
- Meet watchmakers and get up close and personal with rare and unusual specialities such as enamelling, pendulum clocks and restoration (from CHF 260)
- Explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed urban landscapes of La Chaux-de-Fonds and Le Locle, visit iconic museums and "Les Barons" scavenger hunt (from CHF 8)
- Stay including a night in a former watchmaker's workshop or a meal in an authentic watch manufactory

NTC from Neuchâtel Tourism: culture, leisure activities and public transport included
All guests who spend at least one night in a hotel or other accommodation in the canton automatically receive an NTC (Neuchâtel Tourist Card). Visitors can use the card to visit around 40 activities such as watch museums and the Kunsthistorisches Museum free of charge. For the duration of the stay, public transport is also free throughout the entire area.
