“Man of the Hour” – 8-part watch series starts on Discovery

Refinery Media (a Singapore-based television and film production company) and Wei Koh (founder of Revolution (watches) and The Rake (men's fashion, style & lifestyle) magazines) developed and produced the 8-part series "Man of the Hour." It premiered on Discovery Channel.

Hosted by Wei Koh, each episode on Discovery Channel showcases how extraordinary timepieces are conceived, crafted, and appreciated. The series shines a spotlight on the independent visionaries of the watch world.

"Man of the Hour" aims to be more than just a history of watchmaking. It's about the stories of the individuals and families who built the exceptional brands featured. Wei Koh not only explores their techniques but also shares in their passions and everyday lives, revealing the cultures, values, and human stories that shape their creations.

Wei Koh, who also serves as executive producer and host, explains:

"Many of the people featured in 'Man of the Hour' are not only watchmakers I admire, but also dear friends whose families I have had the pleasure of meeting. For me, this isn't just a documentary about watchmaking; it's about sharing the lives, laughter, struggles, and triumphs of people I care deeply about. It's an honor to bring their stories to a global audience."

Karen Seah, executive producer at Refinery Media, adds:

"What attracted us to this series was not just the craftsmanship, but also the intimacy of the human journeys behind it. These are stories of tradition carried on, of artistry defying adversity, and of innovation born of resilience. At Refinery, we're dedicated to telling stories that connect cultures and generations—and 'Man of the Hour' does just that."

Lynn Ng, Head of Content, Networks APAC at Warner Bros. Discovery, said:

"Our audiences on Discovery look for experiences that surprise, inspire, and connect them to worlds they might never otherwise experience. 'Man of the Hour' offers insights into the art of watchmaking, but most importantly, captures the spirit of the people who shape it. This combination of culture, character, and creativity is why we're so excited to share this series with viewers."
