Eberhard & Co.: Chrono 4 and the intuitive logic

The story of the „Chrono4“ chronograph began around the turn of the millennium with an idea from Palmiro Monti, at the time at the helm of Eberhard & Co. and a creative innovator.
His goal in developing the „Chrono 4“ by Eberhard & Co. was to find a technical solution for the most intuitive and logical reading of the chronograph counters, which until then had been arranged as standard on two or three dials at 12, 3 and 9 o'clock.

Adapting the traditional clockworks accordingly was no easy task, and the modification required enormous technical expertise and a willingness to make a significant investment. But nothing could deter Palmiro Monti from his ambitious project.
After years of effort, his dream finally came true in 2001 when he patented an additional device for the basic unit that enabled the logical arrangement of four counters according to his vision.

The success of the „Chrono 4“ was immediate, prompting Eberhard & Co. to launch further versions of the chronograph: these included stainless steel, titanium, and an all-black model. Among them was the „Géant,“ crafted in steel, titanium, and an all-black version, which served as the inspiration for the limited editions celebrating the collection's 10th anniversary.
Even celebrities have discovered the "Chrono24" for themselves. For example, actor, martial artist, director, producer, and stuntman Jackie Chan chose a limited-edition "Chrono 4 Temerario" for his 60th birthday in 2014. And motorcycle world champion Loris Capirossi owns a limited-edition "Capirex.".

The new „Chrono 4 21-42“ models combine all the technical expertise that the company has developed in almost 140 years of chronograph craftsmanship with a contemporary design.
The cases feature the popular 42-millimeter format and are made either of polished stainless steel, which is combined with either a smooth or a ceramic bezel with a tachymeter scale.

Inside, the EB. 251 caliber remains unchanged – a patented product from Eberhard & Co., which has been an integral part of the „Chrono 4“ collection since its introduction.

The dial features a "Clous de Paris" pattern in the center and an "Azurée" finish on the four subdials. The color palette ranges from all-black, white, or air force gray designs to contrasting black/white or silver/black options. Straps in steel, rubber, or alligator leather further expand the choices.
