Tutima Flieger T5: Compact pilot's watch made of Grade 5 titanium

With the Flieger T5, Tutima Glashütte is introducing a compact three-hand watch that combines two hallmarks of the brand: pilot’s watches and the use of titanium. The 38.5-millimeter case is made of Grade 5 titanium, while a clearly structured dial, a red central seconds hand, and a distinctive triangular hour marker define its instrument-style character.

Compact dimensions and easy-to-read display

The Flieger T5 is available with a black or blue dial. White lance-shaped hands, Arabic numerals, and baton-style hour markers stand out clearly against the background and are coated with Super-LumiNova. A triangle at 12 o’clock serves as a reference point; the date, which matches the dial’s color scheme, is positioned at 6 o’clock. A red central seconds hand and the minute track, divided into five-minute increments, add deliberate pops of color.

With a diameter of 38.5 millimeters and a height of 12.5 millimeters, the new Tutima is relatively compact. The domed sapphire crystal, with anti-reflective coating on both sides, is two millimeters thick. A screw-down crown and water resistance up to 10 bar extend its range of use beyond the classic pilot’s watch context.

Grade 5 Titanium: Between Functionality and Everyday Use

Tutima uses Grade 5 titanium for the case. The alloy consists of 90 percent titanium, 6 percent aluminum, and 4 percent vanadium. It combines the light weight and corrosion resistance of titanium with greater strength and dimensional stability. Satin-finished surfaces emphasize the watch’s functional character, while polished sections on the bezel and case add accents.

The material draws on the brand’s history. Tutima had already used titanium in its Bundeswehr and NATO chronographs and is now applying that experience to a significantly more compact three-hand watch. The Flieger T5 is therefore not a historical reissue, but it does incorporate key features of classic instrument watches and adapts them to a format suitable for everyday use.

Tutima 330 automatic movement with a see-through case back

Inside, the watch is powered by the Tutima 330 automatic caliber. It offers a 41-hour power reserve and drives the hours, minutes, central seconds, and date display. The movement remains visible through the sapphire crystal in the screw-down titanium case back. The rhodium-plated rotor features a brand emblem made of 18-karat gold; polished screw heads complement the decorative design.

Titanium strap or Horween leather

Tutima offers the Flieger T5 with a three-row titanium bracelet or a light brown Horween leather strap. On the metal bracelet, satin-finished surfaces alternate with polished center links. The leather strap features light-colored contrast stitching and a blue lining; it fastens with a titanium folding clasp.

A pilot’s watch with understated proportions

The Flieger T5 does not rely on size to convey its functional appeal. Its instrument-style design remains clearly recognizable, yet is paired with a lightweight titanium case and a diameter of 38.5 millimeters. As a result, this new model appeals not only to enthusiasts of classic pilot’s watches but also to wearers seeking a robust automatic watch with more moderate proportions.
