eBay Awards 2025: Zeitauktion wins in the category "Old-timer".
eBay Germany has honored six sellers with the eBay Awards 2025. The awards were presented on September 24th in Berlin in the following categories: Sustainable Business, Founder of the Year, Local Hero, Service Hero, Social Enterprise, and eBay Veteran. This marks the eighth consecutive year that eBay has recognized sellers for their achievements.
From computer scientist to eBay veteran for luxury watches
This year's winners include entrepreneurs Stephan Sohn and Sören Thorwirth from Chemnitz. Since 2001, they have been selling pre-owned luxury watches in their eBay shop, Zeitauktion.
“For me, the eBay shop is not just a job. It is a home for my ideas, a reflection of my personality and something I am very proud of,” explains Sohn, a computer science graduate.
His journey began when he decided he no longer wanted to spend all his time in front of a screen. Instead, he discovered a passion for selling watches at auction and founded Zeitauktion. With the help of a watchmaker, he refurbished the watches before auctioning them on eBay.
“The eBay platform is a crucial success factor for us. It allows us to continuously expand our reach. We utilize every opportunity: special offers, advertisements, vouchers, campaigns – everything that helps us reach even more people,” said Thorwirth. These are the other winners of the eBay Awards 2025

Leonard Wolke, an 18-year-old from Berlin, was awarded the prize in the "Founder of the Year" category. Under the name "CleverSmart Bricks," the high school graduate turned his hobby into his own business and has been selling brand-new, unopened LEGO bricks since 2024.
The cooperative Berliner Buechertisch eG won the "Sustainable Company" category. They sell used books and use the proceeds to support their project for children from Neukölln, which teaches social and environmental issues.
AfB gGmbH was founded in Ettlingen in 2004 and specializes in the sale of used IT equipment. Almost half of its 700 employees are people with disabilities. AfB combines economic success with inclusion and sustainability.
Gerhard Hartmann GmbH from Neustadt an der Aisch won in the "Local Hero" category with its online shop "powerdealz24". The family business is now in its second generation and employs 170 people.
Triantafillos Ktenidis won the Service Hero award with "slap.auction". The Solingen-based company offers excellent customer service, achieves 100% customer satisfaction, and has sold over 145,000 collectible cards. Within two years, the team grew to 27 employees.
The winners will each receive a prize of €5,000, a credit towards sales commission worth €1,000, and three months of intensive consultation with eBay experts.
