Watches & Wonders 2025: Precious stones

A microtrend toward gemstone dials was already evident last year. While this hasn't become a megatrend, these precious dials are certainly here to stay.

Arnold & Son – “HM Steel Amber”: This new timepiece is adorned with Baltic amber, which adorns the entire dial and frames a slim 39.5-millimeter stainless steel case. Following charoite, reflective hematite, and meteorite, the pale yellow hue of the fossil resin now provides the elegant backdrop for the precision displayed.

This is achieved by the A&S1001 caliber, which, like all of the company's movements, is entirely developed, manufactured, decorated, assembled, regulated and cased in the manufactory in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

All dials of the limited edition of 38 pieces were cut from a single 1.6-kilogram block of amber. (RRP €22,000)

Gerald Charles – “Maestro 2.0 Ultra-Thin Lapis Lazuli”: This watch is the company's first to feature a hardstone dial. Lapis lazuli, the favorite stone of company founder and watch designer Gérald Charles Genta, was used for this premiere. Its processing is intricate and demanding, taking 24 hours per dial to perfectly fit the angular, asymmetrical case, the hallmark of the "Maestro" collection.

In this version, the bezel has been finished with a blue color mix coating.

Powering the watch and ensuring precision is the ornate Manufacture Caliber 2.0, an automatic movement hand-finished to Qualité Fleurier standards and offering a 50-hour power reserve. (RRP €23,100)

TAG Heuer – “Carrera Chronograph”: The LVMH brand showcases the king of gemstones, the diamond. The powder-pink, circularly brushed dial sparkles with diamond indices and is surrounded by a dial ring set with 72 diamonds.

The 39-millimeter stainless steel case, water-resistant to ten bar, houses the automatic chronograph caliber TH20-00 with vertical clutch, column wheel, and 80-hour power reserve.

(RRP €8,450)
