Carnelian (coloured gemstone)

A reddish-orange chalcedony, often slightly translucent. The color is caused by iron oxides. Carnelian was already popular in ancient times – for seals, jewelry, and amulets. It is considered a protective and vitalizing stone. Often used in cabochon cuts or as an engraving stone.
