Wempe opens a new location in Dresden and launches a new storefront concept

With the reopening of its store on Frauenkirche, Wempe is turning a new page in its Dresden history. After a year and a half of construction, the 576-square-meter location has been completely redesigned—more open, more spacious, and more closely integrated with the historic surroundings of Neumarkt.

“With our new store near the Frauenkirche, we are reaffirming that brick-and-mortar retail in Dresden remains an integral part of our corporate identity. Through the expanded floor space, the new interior design, and the innovative window display concept, we are creating experiences that go far beyond the product itself,” said Kim-Eva Wempe.

A House in Dialogue with the City

The redesign by the Hamburg-based architectural firm Anna Nicolas draws on historical references and translates them into a contemporary design. Floor-to-ceiling windows and clear sightlines open the store onto Neumarkt and allow the eye to gaze deep into the interior. This transparency invites passersby to experience the space and atmosphere firsthand.

Color, Material, and Light in Harmony

The new design is characterized by a harmonious interplay of colors, materials, and light. The green hues of the surroundings, walnut veneer from a single tree, and a well-thought-out lighting concept featuring a large chandelier create a sophisticated atmosphere.

A Window into the Future

With the opening of its Dresden location, Wempe is also introducing a new storefront concept. Three elements are central to this concept.

First, there are the so-called Wempe Stages—cube-shaped rotating platforms that display changing scenes from the world of watches and jewelry and, thanks to digital displays, enable a multidimensional presentation.

On the other hand, the Wempe Spheres, which starting in 2026 will feature a multimedia-enabled sphere visible around the clock.

And third, the Wempe Stories, a spacious area where the in-house brands can be elaborately showcased.

Thanks to this new, open window display design, plenty of natural light floods into the sales area—a deliberate departure from the tradition of classic, closed jewelry store facades. The modular display case layout lends the exhibits a sense of lightness while also creating a closer connection with passersby in front of the window.

“We want to create a place that encourages people to linger, meet, and interact.”
