Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Petite Seconde Morning Blue: Platinum and Grenage
Parmigiani Fleurier is expanding the Toric Petite Seconde collection with the Platinum Morning Blue model. This dress watch combines a 950 platinum case with a white gold dial entirely hand-grained and the hand-wound PF780 caliber, which is just 3.15 millimeters thick. Its bridges are made of 18-karat rose gold. The price is 63,800 euros.

Morning Blue on hand-grained white gold
At the heart of this new model is the 18-karat white gold dial. Its surface is created using the historic grenage technique, which Michel Parmigiani is familiar with from his work as a restorer. To achieve this, a paste made of tartar, finely ground sea salt, silver, and demineralized water is applied to the gold surface with special brushes in several steps.
The process takes place in semi-darkness because the silver particles it contains are light-sensitive. Using progressively softer brushes, the dial maker compacts the grain until a finely textured surface emerges. This surface scatters the light rather than reflecting it directly, causing the blue hue to appear lighter or cooler depending on the angle of incidence and movement. These subtle variations are part of the artisanal character of each dial.
Plate housing, 8.8 millimeters high
The polished 950 platinum case measures 40.6 millimeters in diameter and 8.8 millimeters in height. The fluted bezel echoes a design feature of the first Toric from 1996. The slightly domed dial slopes toward the edge, creating a smooth transition between the center, the minute track, and the case.
Rhodium-plated gold Alpha hands, hand-applied hour markers, and a small seconds sub-dial define the minimalist design. Instead of the brand name in full, the PF emblem is positioned at 12 o’clock. The front and back are protected by anti-reflective sapphire crystal; the watch is water-resistant to 30 meters.

PF780 caliber with rose gold bridges

The PF780 in-house caliber plays the leading technical and decorative role. The hand-wound movement measures 28.4 millimeters, consists of 157 components, and features 27 jewels. It operates at 4 hertz and offers a power reserve of 60 hours.
Two visible mainsprings are designed to transmit energy to the gear train as evenly as possible. The bridges, crafted from 18-karat rose gold, feature Côtes de Fleurier engraving. The intersecting wave pattern is created using a historic, cam-driven guilloché machine; the edges of the bridges are then beveled by hand. The absence of a rotor allows the architecture to be fully visible through the sapphire crystal case back.
Nubuck alligator leather in Akoya Grey
Parmigiani Fleurier pairs the Morning Blue dial with a hand-stitched strap made of nubuck alligator leather in Akoya Gray. It is crafted from six layers in approximately 20 steps. The visible stitching follows the Italian “punto a mano” technique, in which a short stitch is followed by a longer gap. A 950 platinum buckle completes the design, which highlights the materials used.
