Watches & Wonders 2025: Whirlwinds for the wrist

Of course, the so-called Grand Complications are a must at Watches & Wonders. Whether you actually need their functionality or not is secondary. It's always a good feeling to have the crème de la crème of watchmaking on your wrist. The tourbillon (French for whirlwind) takes the lead and proves to be an indestructible classic of haute horlogerie. In this grand complication, the oscillating and escapement system rotates on its own axis to achieve greater precision by counteracting the force of gravity.

Frederique Constant – “Classic Tourbillon Manufacture”: Limited to 150 pieces, this timepiece with a 39-millimeter case is eye-catching in two ways. A rich green dominates the dial and strap. A technical eye-catcher is the Frederique Constant signature heartbeat aperture at 6 o'clock.

It offers a view of the escapement of the in-house caliber FC-980-4, on whose bridge on the front the respective limited edition number is engraved in gold-plated numerals.

The in-house tourbillon was developed and assembled entirely in-house and is also visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. (RRP €14,995)

Piaget – “Polo Flying Tourbillon Moonphase”: The impressive 44-millimeter case, water-resistant to ten bar, accommodates its highly complex inner workings with great ease thanks to the titanium material used and the openwork dial.

Equipped with the ultra-thin, hand-wound mechanical 642P movement, flying tourbillon, and astronomical moon phase display at 6 o'clock, this timepiece offers sophisticated precision par excellence.

(RRP €112,000)

TAG Heuer – “Carrera Tourbillon”: The smoky violet sunray dial beneath the domed sapphire crystal at 6 o'clock offers a glimpse into the sophisticated inner workings of this "Carrera" chronograph.

The screwed back of the 42-millimeter stainless steel caseback, which is water-resistant to ten bar, allows for even greater visibility.

On display is the in-house automatic tourbillon movement TH20-09 with a 65-hour power reserve. (RRP €34,400)

Moser & Cie. – “Pioneer Tourbillon Burgundy”: The burgundy fumé dial is a new addition to the "Pioneer" collection. It features the brand's logo in transparent lacquer and underscores the warm hue of the 40-millimeter rose gold case, water-resistant to 12 bar. It houses the HMC 805 tourbillon movement with a power reserve of at least three days.

The in-house automatic caliber replaces the HMC 804 caliber and offers innovations such as a wider opening that allows a view of the mechanism through partially skeletonized bridges.
