Virtuoso coloured gemstone art: Piaget presents "Shapes of Extraleganza"

The Maison Piaget presented its new high jewellery collection "Shapes of Extraleganza" at an exclusive gala dinner in Barcelona. There is a lot behind the name: elegance, extravagance and exclusivity - paired with virtuoso shapes and bold colours in the form of exquisite gemstones.

Playful elegance and a creative journey into the past

Maison Piaget has unveiled its new high jewellery collection "Shapes of Extraleganza" at an exclusive gala dinner in Barcelona. With this collection, the luxury brand is building a bridge to its creative roots of the 1960s and 70s, which were characterised by a creativity that questions old concepts, modernises them and explores where the new boundaries of craftsmanship and design lie.

This bold, expressive character is evident in the collection. It is expressed in colourful gemstone combinations and designs that play with shapes and emotions. The impression of the jewellery creations is just too intoxicating and shows a clear penchant for extravagance.

Inspired by art and artists

The collection is a tribute to Piaget's collaborations with great artists such as Salvador Dalí, Arman and Andy Warhol. These collaborations arose from natural friendships that Yves Piaget cultivated with personalities from the art scene, forming a private circle known as the "Piaget Society". The avant-garde character of the new "Shapes of Extraleganza" reflects the achievements in art, design, architecture and fashion of the time.

The 51 pieces from the "Shapes of Extraleganza" play with shapes, hard and soft lines, colours, overlays, geometric angles and curves. The result is a mixture that interprets all the different trends of the 1960s and 70s in a new way.

The art of watchmaking meets jewellery

Piaget is also presenting a watch with most of the "extra elegant" pieces of jewellery, demonstrating once again how closely watchmaking, jewellery design and craftsmanship are linked in jewellery for the Maison.

Techniques and materials that have already been used on watch dials can be found in the breathtaking and colourful mosaics on necklaces, earrings and bracelets. Piaget showcases the opulence of jewellery with special coloured gemstones such as rhodochosite, sugilite, verdite and black opal. Shapes of Extraleganza" offers something for every taste and every sensibility.
