Focus on German microbrands

Bombfrog & Heinrich at the UHRPHORIA

Two brands, two signatures – and one common goal:

High-quality mechanical watches beyond the mainstream. At UHRPHORIA, two independent German microbrands, Bombfrog and Heinrich, meet. They could hardly be more different – yet both stand for passion, authenticity, and a clear design vision. While Bombfrog impresses with combat watches derived from military practice, Heinrich combines retro design with modern mechanics. A fascinating insight into the diversity of German watchmaking.

Bombfrog Function meets origin

Bombfrog is a German watch brand with roots in the world of special forces. Founded by Dirk Assmann, a former mine diver commander with 30 years of service, the brand was born out of a specific need: conventional, official-issued watches could not withstand the extreme demands of operational use. The solution was a proprietary watch—built from practical experience, with a focus on absolute reliability and functionality.

The early models were specifically aimed at German armed forces and police units. Today, Bombfrog also appeals to a broader audience: outdoor enthusiasts, divers, collectors, and watch lovers who appreciate robust, practical design. What all models have in common is the consistent use of high-quality materials—including sapphire crystal, 316L stainless steel, titanium, and H3 tritium for lasting luminosity.

Models like the BT25 They meet professional standards such as DIN 8306 for diving watches and are water resistant up to 1000 meters.

Bombfrog relies on proven movements for its powertrain: from automatic calibers like the Seiko NH35 or Sellita SW200-1 elaboré to Swiss quartz movements like the ETA E61.111. Technical reliability is clearly a top priority, complemented by a functional, striking design without compromising on fashion.

What makes Bombfrog special is the combination of military heritage with watchmaking precision. The watches are reliable tools – both on duty and in everyday life. This has enabled the brand to emerge from a niche and establish itself as a firm fixture among German microbrands.

Since its founding in 2021, the Stuttgart-based brand Heinrich Watches is one of the most exciting new additions to the independent German watchmaking scene. Behind the brand is Wolfgang Heinrich, a watch enthusiast who has translated his passion for classic sports watches from the 1970s into a unique collection.

Heinrich Uhren's designs are characterized by a clear design language and high recognition value. Characteristic features include angular case shapes, contrasting dials, and color accents that emphasize the vintage influence. The brand consciously draws on design elements from past decades without losing sight of the technical demands of contemporary watchmaking.

Production is limited to small batches, often as limited editions. Proven mechanical movements, primarily from Switzerland, are used. Direct communication with the community—as at UHRPHORIA—plays a central role for Wolfgang Heinrich in building his brand.

Heinrich Watches is thus exemplary for a new generation of independent brands that position themselves between design affinity and mechanical authenticity – and appeal to an audience that is looking for timepieces with character outside the mainstream.
