Two new "Art in motion" from Ressence
The "Type 8.1 DE1" and the "Type 8.1 DE2" are limited to 40 pieces each and skilfully combine the Belgian brand's independent design with the geometric, colourful aesthetics of Munich artist Daniel Engelberg.

The "Type 8.1 DE1" features a striking pink/red accent, while the "Type 8.1 DE2" has shades of turquoise circling the dial. This forms the framework for the concentric colour scheme, which is directly reminiscent of Engelberg's "Inside Out" art series, which is known for its circular design and illusion of depth.

This optic gives the orbiting components of the "Type 8" model from Ressence - i.e. the patented Orbital Convex System (ROCS) technology - even more dynamism.
ROCS from Ressence

The "Type 8" from Ressence is characterised by its time display on a concave disc that runs on a ball bearing with eccentric satellites. These satellites are in turn mounted on jewelled ball bearings and have an inclination of 9.75 degrees for the hour display.
The displays are engraved and filled with Superluminova, which glows blue. The dial is made of titanium and is convex in shape. The time is set by turning the titanium back, which also winds the movement.
ROCS stands for: Ressence, because the patented technology was developed by the Belgian brand. Orbital, because the discs that form the dial move around each other. Convex, because each disc is curved. System because it is a mechanical module.

"This project is a real transfer of art to a watch," says Ressence founder Benoit Mintiens.

"It is an almost literal integration of a work of art into a dial. Here, the dial and Daniel's painting speak exactly the same graphic language, an organic geometry that seems to have been created."
Previous art watches under the motto "Art in Motion" include the "Type 1 Squared White" with flowing line drawings by British artist Shantell Martin and the "Type 3X Look up", which was created in collaboration with Austrian graphic designer Stefan Sagmeister, who has designed album covers for Lou Reed and the Rolling Stones, among others.

The latest art watches in cooperation with Daniel Engelberg, whose trademark is his colourful, pop abstract objects, continue this young tradition of lively art for the wrist.
"For the first time, I have an animated work of art," says the artist happily about the "Type 8.1 DE1" and the "Type 8.1 DE2". "To see my design in constant motion on a Ressence watch that draws the eye into an illusionistic depth is something very special. It's as if the art comes alive with every minute."

The 42.9-millimetre watches are worn on colour-coordinated rubber straps, while a second strap made of high-quality leather is available for more formal occasions.
