Geneva Watch Days

Geneva in late summer - it could be worse. Especially when the city by the lake is transformed into the centre of the watchmaking world for a few days. The 6th edition of the Geneva Watch Days showed once again last weekend why this young format is so fascinating: Diversity, encounters and direct dialogue. Even if the decentralised orientation sometimes requires a bit of walking, this is also what makes it so appealing, as firstly you can see something of the city and secondly the different settings in which you can discover the brands make the whole thing even more exciting - and who has ever seen the inside of a suite at the Beau Rivage in normal life?

In addition to some of the big names in the industry, numerous independent brands presented themselves - often with their founders or CEOs personally on site. The mixture of Big brands and indiesflanked by passionate collectors, journalists and fans, was what made it so appealing. It was a weekend of possibilities: new models, creative concepts, exciting discussions.

The boundaries of what is possible in the art of watchmaking seem to be constantly shifting - be it technically, creatively or in the choice of materials, this aspect also provides fascinating excitement and dynamism.

Vicenzaoro: The world of jewellery in one place

This year, almost parallel to the Watch Days, Vicenza opened the Vicenzaoro the show of the Italian and international jewellery world, which is almost unique in its diversity. Interestingly, there was no dominant megatrend this time. Instead, the focus was on a theme that may not be new, but is more topical than ever:

Individuality in focus

Manufacturers are increasingly focussing on their own strengths and skills in design, techniques and craftsmanship, while consumers value pieces that express personality and stand out from the mainstream. This is exactly where the trade fair shows its strength: it offers a stage where you can discover, compare and try things out.

Nani's Ipanema

Speaking of trying things out: the question "What can men wear?" was also tested with curiosity on site - and showed that boundaries are often more fluid than you might think.
