Mondaine is expanding its "Classic Collection" with a new color option
With the “Anthracite Classic,” Mondaine stays true to the design language of the Swiss railway station clock while introducing a modern look.
The anthracite-colored dial provides a cool contrast to the striking hour and minute markers and the iconic red seconds hand, thereby maintaining the excellent readability that defines Mondaine’s design heritage.

Mondaine has transformed the design of the official watch of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) into a timeless watch collection that was first introduced in 1986, is now considered a classic of Swiss watch design, and is part of the collection at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
The watch features a 40-millimeter case made of recycled stainless steel, with a brushed finish and a polished bezel, and is water-resistant to 5 bar. It houses a reliable Swiss-made quartz movement.

The Swiss station clock was originally designed in 1944 by Hans Hilfiker, an engineer with the Swiss Federal Railways. His design marked a significant departure from the ornate Art Nouveau dials toward a minimalist approach featuring a white background, hour and minute markers in the form of simple black rectangles, geometric hands, and a striking red second hand with a distinctive red disc.
Inspired by the batons used by station dispatchers to direct trains at stations, this dial allows the time to be read accurately to the second, even from a distance.
