Jeweler Christ Introduces a Jewelry Collection Featuring Lab-Grown Colored Gemstones

In recent years, lab-grown diamonds have evolved from a niche category to an integral part of the international jewelry market. At the same time, Juwelier Christ has noted a growing interest in lab-grown colored gemstones.

The company is actively driving this trend forward and, in August, will expand its product lineup for the first time to include a collection featuring lab-grown colored gemstones in approximately 70 stores.

Kerstin Fleischer (pictured left), Director of Merchandising & Purchasing at Christ, explains: “The market for lab-grown diamonds and colored gemstones is growing rapidly, driven by the desire for individuality, an attractive price-performance ratio, and modern jewelry concepts. Millennials and Gen Z, in particular, now accept lab-grown diamonds as an equivalent alternative for engagement rings and everyday jewelry.”

Fleischer has observed a growing demand for expressive designs, larger stones, and colorful accents. “With the lab-grown option, our customers can experiment with real jewelry trends more flexibly and personalize their look—without compromising on quality or design.”

Kerstin Fleischer attributes the growing acceptance of lab-grown gemstones to a new understanding of luxury and changing expectations.

“Younger target groups, in particular, appreciate the combination of modern design, individuality, and affordability. The concept of luxury is evolving. In the past, luxury meant above all rarity and a high price. Today, the focus is on unique design, individuality, and personalization.”

Accurate and unambiguous labeling of lab-grown gemstones and their origin is essential. “The key difference lies in how they’re formed,” explains Fleischer. “While traditional diamonds form deep within the Earth over billions of years, lab-grown diamonds are produced under controlled conditions in a laboratory. As with traditional diamonds, the 4 Cs—carat, cut, color, and clarity—are the key factors determining their quality,” she continues.

To complement its collection of lab-grown diamonds, Juwelier Christ will also launch a new collection of lab-grown colored gemstones this fall.
