CIBJO Congress 2026: Focus on the Future of the Jewelry Industry

Alongside VICENZAORO, the World Federation is celebrating its 100th anniversary

In parallel with VICENZAORO, the international jewelry industry will also gather in a few days for the CIBJO Congress 2026. The World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO) is celebrating its 100th anniversary in Vicenza and will bring together representatives from industry, trade, associations, and institutions from September 4 through 7. The Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) is hosting the anniversary congress at the Fiera di Vicenza exhibition center.

Standards for the Global Jewelry Market

The CIBJO Congress is considered one of the most important international forums for the further development of standards in the jewelry, gemstone, and watch industries. The focus is on the technical commissions for diamonds, colored gemstones, pearls, precious metals, coral, gemmological laboratories, and responsible sourcing. Their work is incorporated into the so-called Blue Books, which serve as a global reference for terminology, classification, and trade standards.

Sustainability, AI, and Geopolitical Developments

This year’s agenda will focus primarily on responsible sourcing, sustainability, artificial intelligence, the future of the diamond market, and the impact of geopolitical developments on the industry. The new CIBJO Sustainability Toolkit, designed to help companies implement sustainable strategies, will also be presented.

One of the highlights will be the opening address by former De Beers CEO Gareth Penny, who will speak about leadership, responsibility, and the transformation of the international diamond industry.

While VICENZAORO focuses primarily on new products, collections, and business contacts, the CIBJO Congress, held concurrently, provides insight into the industry’s strategic issues. Standards, regulation, sustainability, and technological developments thus form the professional framework for one of the most important jewelry events of the year.
