Hublot Big Bang Original Soft Touch: Rubber with a velvety finish

Hublot is expanding the Big Bang Original collection with an unconventional material concept: In the new Big Bang Original Soft Touch, a velvety-textured rubber compound covers the case, bezel, dial, and strap. The two versions, All Black and All Red, thus apply two well-known Hublot color concepts to a surface designed to appeal not only visually but also to the touch.

Rubber Becomes Part of the Design

According to Hublot, the surface effect is not created by a subsequent coating. Instead, the fine texture is imprinted directly into the rubber during the overmolding process of the titanium case using specially developed tools. Thousands of microscopic elements are said to create the soft feel without compromising the material’s durability.

The design extends to nearly every visible and tactile element. The case and bezel are made of titanium, overmolded with black or red rubber. The dial also features this textured combination, with a carbon-fiber effect and raised sub-dials. The crown and bracelet also echo this surface treatment.

All Black and All Red

The black version bears the reference number 431.RXN.2740.RX.VEL and builds on the all-black concept introduced in 2006. The red model, reference 431.RXR.2770.RX.VEL, is reminiscent of Hublot’s colored high-tech ceramic, but translates the intense red into a softer-looking material finish. Both watches measure 43 millimeters and are water-resistant to 100 meters.

Unico Flyback Chronograph with a 72-hour power reserve

Inside, the watch is powered by the automatic in-house caliber HUB1280 Unico. The flyback chronograph features a column wheel and offers approximately 72 hours of power reserve. The sapphire crystal case back reveals, among other things, the skeletonized tungsten rotor. The One-Click system allows for tool-free strap changes.

Hublot offers the Big Bang Original Soft Touch at select retail locations and online. The press release does not specify a price for the German market. On the international product page, the red version is listed at $24,900. The technical specifications match Hublot’s official product data.

This new release comes shortly after the Big Bang Reloaded UEFA Champions League. While that model focuses on colors and sports partnerships, the Soft Touch makes the feel of the material itself the central theme.
