A. Lange & Söhne at the Concours of Elegance: Triple Split and 1815 Auf/Ab in Blue
A. Lange & Söhne took advantage of the Concours of Elegance in the gardens of Hampton Court Palace to unveil three limited-edition new models to the public for the first time. From September 4 to 6, 2026, rare historic automobiles were showcased alongside the new Triple Split in platinum and two versions of the 1815 Auf/Ab with deep-blue dials in white and red gold.
The Concours of Elegance as a Regular Showcase for A. Lange & Söhne
The presentation at Hampton Court was not chosen at random. A. Lange & Söhne has been a partner of the Concours of Elegance since 2018 and presents Glashütte watchmaking artistry there every year alongside significant classics from automotive history. Both fields share a focus on technical design, craftsmanship, and the commitment to preserving mechanical cultural treasures across generations.
For the brand, the Concours is thus more than just an event partnership. In previous years, one-of-a-kind pieces were created specifically for Hampton Court: in 2022, the 1815 Chronograph “Hampton Court Edition” was unveiled, followed in 2024 by the Datograph Up/Down “Hampton Court Edition.” Both watches were auctioned off to benefit the King’s Trust. In 2026, the weekend once again served as the venue for a premiere—this time for standard, yet strictly limited-edition models of the Triple Split and the 1815 Auf/Ab.
The connection to the automobiles on display is particularly evident in the Triple Split: Its design is geared toward the precise measurement of long comparison times. The 1815 Auf/Ab, meanwhile, embodies a classic design whose functional details stem directly from the Saxon watchmaking tradition.
Triple Split: Rattrapante chronograph in platinum
The new Triple Split bears the reference number 424.025F. Its case is made of 950 platinum, and the dial is made of solid silver. The rhodium-colored main surface is accented by darker gray totalizers. Blue accents on the rattrapante hands and the power reserve indicator provide a cool contrast.
The technical principle remains as exceptional as ever: The Triple Split can measure comparative times not only in seconds but also in minutes and hours. This allows two events starting simultaneously to be timed separately over a period of up to twelve hours. Three pairs of hands arranged one above the other perform this task.
Inside, the hand-wound in-house caliber L132.1 is at work. It combines the rattrapante mechanism with a flyback function and a precise jumping minute counter. The power reserve is 55 hours. The movement is assembled twice—in the manner typical of A. Lange & Söhne—and finished by hand. The new platinum version is limited to 100 pieces.
1815 Auf/Ab with a blue dial
The 1815 Auf/Ab has a distinctly more understated appearance. Its distinctive feature lies in its classic design: the railway-style minute track, Arabic numerals, and small seconds hand are reminiscent of historic pocket watches. The power reserve indicator at 3 o’clock, which gives the watch its name, uses the German terms “Auf” and “Ab.”
In 2026, the manufactory combines this familiar design with a blue dial made of solid silver. Choices include white gold (reference 244.028) and red gold (reference 244.037). Both cases measure 37.5 millimeters in diameter and 8.7 millimeters in height, ensuring the watch remains deliberately compact.
The L051.2 manual-winding movement provides a 72-hour power reserve. Two mainspring barrels ensure that the watch continues to run for three days after being fully wound. In addition to hours and minutes, it displays the small seconds and the remaining power reserve. Each of the two gold versions is limited to 300 pieces.
Two Different Sides of the Manufactory
The new releases highlight two distinct aspects of the A. Lange & Söhne collection. The Triple Split showcases the manufactory’s technical expertise with a function that remains exceptional in this particular combination. The 1815 Up/Down, on the other hand, distills the mechanical information down to the essentials and transforms the mainspring’s tension into a design element.
