Zeitwinkel surprises with new models
Sixteen years have passed since the introduction of the first Zeitwinkel watches, which in turn were preceded by a three-year development phase of the automatic manufacture movements.
The Swiss watch brand Zeitwinkel believes this is exactly the right amount of time to modernize its watch models with a central seconds hand.

Time angle – Time for timekeepers
Instead of regularly incorporating fashion trends with new watch models, the founders of the watch brand – Ivica Maksimovic, Peter Nikolaus and Albert Edelmann – prefer to create watches that they themselves would like to wear.
And they've been doing this since 2006. The name of the Swiss brand from St. Imier refers to a measure of precise local time. The time angle is used to calculate "true local time," that is, the time measured according to a sundial at a specific location. Naturally, the 12 o'clock point, the precise moment when a sundial indicates noon, varies from place to place within a time zone.
Furthermore, since the sun does not move at a constant speed along the ecliptic, but faster in summer and slower in winter, the "mean solar day" was introduced, which also serves as a basis for navigation.
The distinctive feature of every Zeitwinkel watch is its automatic, in-house movement with bidirectional winding, robust three-quarter plate, bridges made of high-quality German silver, and a 72-hour power reserve. The Zeitwinkel watchmakers in the Bernese Jura spend a significant portion of their time meticulously crafting and decorating the movement components.
„We found it exciting to take on the challenge of ‚True Local Time‘ and to name our brand in reference to the time angle,“ the brand explains the choice of name.
Time angle in the new design
The new timepieces from Zeitwinkel are available with a case diameter of 39 or 42.5 millimeters, and all variants continue to be based on the automatic movements made of nickel silver developed by Zeitwinkel itself.

In both formats, they are either equipped with a central seconds hand (model 082°) or, even more puristically, with only hour and minute indicators (model 312°).
The available dial colors are electroplated silver, electroplated anthracite and a combination of glacier blue and electroplated silver.

The Zeitwinkel team deliberately opted against a date display. However, the automatic in-house caliber ZW0102 offers the possibility of adding this function at a later date.

The Zeitwinkel caliber ZW0102 used in the watches was designed and constructed in the Swiss Jura and is manufactured by Zeitwinkel with plates and bridges made of uncoated German silver.

„"Our watchmakers spend a lot of time decorating every component, even under the wheels, on the underside, and in other places that no watch owner ever sees."“
The ZW0102 caliber has a diameter of 30.4 millimeters, 30 jewels, and a total of 257 components. When fully wound, it powers the watch for 72 hours.

The new models can be ordered now with a wide selection of straps and, like all Zeitwinkel watches, are made to order. (RRP CHF 14,900 plus VAT and any applicable customs duties)
