Diamond Weighing More Than 1,000 Carats Found
Lucara Diamond Corp. has announced the recovery of an exceptional diamond weighing 1,305.4 carats from its wholly owned Karowe Diamond Mine in Botswana.
This is the tenth diamond weighing more than 1,000 carats that Lucara has recovered since the mine began operations in 2012. This once again underscores the Karowe Mine’s status as one of the world’s most productive sources of exceptionally large and particularly valuable diamonds.
The diamond was recovered using Mega Diamond Recovery (MDR) X-ray transmission (XRT) technology. This technology has played a key role in recovering some of the world’s largest gem-quality diamonds intact. The newly discovered stone is classified as a white diamond and is undamaged. Its dimensions are 79.9 × 34.1 × 51.9 millimeters. lucaradiamond.com
