Seiko presents exclusive anniversary edition for its 145th anniversary.

Seiko traces its origins to a watch and jewelry shop opened in Tokyo in 1881 by Kintarō Hattori. The Seiko name first appeared on a watch dial in 1924.

What began in a small watchmaker's shop in Tokyo's Ginza district is today a fully integrated manufacture. Every Seiko watch is made in-house, with Japanese values such as discipline, aesthetics, and respect for detail guiding the work process.

Astron: Inspiration Solar Eclipse

The design of the „Astron GPS Solar Dual Time Chronograph Seiko 145th Anniversary Limited Edition SSH186“ – its full name – references the rare phenomenon of a solar eclipse. This event, visible only under specific conditions, serves here as a symbol for the moment the Seikosha watch factory was founded.

Seiko designers chose black and gold as their interpretive color scheme. The black dial features a textured surface reminiscent of asphalt, representing the superimposition of the sun and moon. The gold-emphasized UTC markers at 1, 4, and 5 o'clock commemorate the anniversary and harmonize with the gold sapphire crystal bezel, gold hands and indices, and the gold-accented center link of the bracelet.

Technically speaking, the limited-edition "SSH186" – the abbreviated name of the anniversary model, limited to 1,450 pieces – offers everything one expects from an "Astron" and everything fans appreciate about it. For the first time, the 5X83 caliber, housed in a case water-resistant to 10 bar, enables the measurement of elapsed time for up to twelve hours in 1/20-second increments. A second time zone and world time function also make the watch a functional companion for globetrotters. Time and time zone settings are GPS-controlled.

Other features include split-time measurement, perpetual calendar, signal reception indicator, and automatic daylight saving time function.

The titanium case and band feature a black hard coating and gold plating.

Folding clasp with safety pusher and the possibility of fine strap adjustment ensure a comfortable fit on the wrist, while double-domed sapphire crystal with super-clear coating and LumiBrite ensure good readability at all times.

King Seiko: Small points for the classic

The Japanese brand also celebrates the successes of Seiko founder Kintaro Hattori with the „King Seiko“ model „SJE121“, which is limited to 800 pieces.

The deep brown dial with gold accents features the Nanako pattern – a detail that harks back to the brand's origins. Hattori used this delicate embossing, whose name means fish roe, on the very first Seiko pocket watches, adorning the case backs with its fine, brushed pattern. For centuries, these small dots have symbolized good fortune and prosperity in Japan.

Like its predecessors from 2024 („SJE109“, „SJE111“ and „SJE113“), the anniversary edition “SJE121“ reinterprets the „45KCM“ from 1969 and translates its characteristic features into the present day. Sleek lines and Japanese aesthetics give the watch its balanced form.

This houses the automatic caliber 6L35 with stop-seconds function and 45-hour power reserve in a 39.4-millimeter stainless steel case that is water-resistant to 5 bar.

The 12 o'clock marker is inspired by Kyūdō, the traditional art of archery. The color and texture of the dial also reflect aspects of Japanese culture.

The design is rounded off by a multi-row bracelet with a double folding clasp and safety push button, whose tightly woven, movable links are intended to evoke the flowing fabric of a kimono.

Speedtimer: stately, elegant precision

The new, limited-edition anniversary „Speedtimer SRQ059“, of which 700 pieces were made, continues the homage to Seiko's beginnings. Its dial also features the Nanako pattern, combined with gold accents.

The 42-millimeter case, water-resistant to 10 bar and made of hard-coated stainless steel, and the multi-row bracelet are inspired by Seiko's legendary "Panda" chronograph from 1972. Inside, the automatic caliber 8R48 with a 45-hour power reserve, stop-seconds function, column wheel and vertical clutch ensures precise chronograph functions.

Classic Series Craftsmanship: Pocket watch nostalgia for the wrist

The „Classic Series Craftsmanship Anniversary“ model, limited to 1,450 pieces, appeals to collectors and lovers of special timepieces.

The 35-millimeter case, made of gold-plated stainless steel and water-resistant to five bar, is a nod to the "Timekeeper," Seiko's first pocket watch from 1895. It marked the beginning of the Japanese watch manufacturer's success story.

The decoration of the bezel and the large, onion-shaped crown are modeled after the historical original and give the watch its special character.

The white enamel dial captivates with its warm color nuance and gentle shimmer. Roman numerals and the characteristic hand shape also echo the design of the "Timekeeper". Inside, the automatic caliber 6R51 operates with a 72-hour power reserve.

This anniversary model is worn on a brown calfskin leather strap with a pull-through construction, which underlines its nostalgic look. The watch is delivered in an exclusive paulownia wood box.
