Watches & Wonders 2026: Twice Unique – Double Uniqueness from Nomos Glashütte

Matching outfits are a bit of a mixed bag. When done poorly, they tend to elicit a good-natured smile at the attempt to project a sense of togetherness through outward appearance. When done well, however, they bring a joyful smile to those around you. “Twice Unique” undoubtedly falls into the latter category.

With this, Nomos Glashütte has created a platform where all those ideas and designs that would have stood out as nonconformist rather than a logical extension in other collections can finally find a home. And that is precisely why “Twice Unique” is not a passing fad, but a permanent Nomos playground for creative freedom.

Unique pieces designed in pairs

The concept is quite classic, consisting of five Nomos models that serve as canvases for artistic interpretations and experiments. Each motif appears only twice, making every pair of dials a one-of-a-kind piece. Depending on how the dial is manufactured, they are either identical twins or fraternal twins—in 18-karat gold and stainless steel. They were unveiled at Watches & Wonders 2026.

Creative freedom

“Twice Unique” combines traditional craftsmanship with new materials, techniques, and textures. Each pair of watches follows its own design approach. Some designs were developed entirely in-house, while others incorporate the expertise of invited artists.

For example, two “Twins” explore the use of color through the work of textile designer Anna Diederichs, who created floral patterns in Paris in the 1960s that blend psychedelia and Op Art. Based on Diederichs’ original sketches and watercolors, the Nomos team selected dial-sized sections and reproduced them using four-color pad printing. “Rive Gauche” and “1966” thus translate the look of textile printing into a miniature format for the wrist.

Other watch pairs explore the technical possibilities of dial manufacturing. For example, “Moiré” features the Glashütte-based manufacturer’s first guilloché dial, while “Now” showcases a mirror-polished surface, and “Scribble” and “Scribble Dark” feature engraved dials.

Auric

A third aspect is texture, which takes center stage in the “Auric,” for example, and highlights a traditional craft that is rarely practiced today. The dials were designed by Michelle Sachs, one of the few remaining hand gilders in Germany. They shimmer without showing any clear reflection. The gold leaf is so fragile that it must be applied with a particularly soft brush made of squirrel hair. Depending on the case, the gilded dials take on different shades.

These five watch models form the foundation of “Twice Unique”: “Tetra 27,” “Tangente 33,” “Ludwig,” “Orion neomatik,” and “Tangente neomatik 38 Update.” Each model is available in both stainless steel and 18-karat gold. For each design, only a single gold-stainless steel set is produced per model—and sold as an inseparable pair. All watches bear the engraving “1/1” on the back, signifying their status as one-of-a-kind pieces.
