Eberhard & Co.: The Eagle Takes Flight Again

Eberhard & Co. announces the completion of the restoration of the eagle statue that crowns the building housing both the brand’s headquarters and the museum dedicated to the company’s historical heritage.

The so-called Maison de l’Aigle, the villa in La Chaux-de-Fonds, was commissioned by Georges-Lucien Eberhard at the beginning of the 20th century.

After the eagle was severely damaged by a violent storm, the statue had to be temporarily removed from its perch above the city’s rooftops. Following a meticulous restoration process carried out by La Zinguerie d’Art, an art workshop specializing in architectural ornamentation, the iconic sculpture has now resumed its role as a symbol of the watchmaker Eberhard & Co., founded in 1887.

A time capsule for future generations

To commemorate this significant moment, a time capsule was sealed inside the eagle. It contains a curated selection of objects that represent the company today and document its current values. Among them is a letter from CEO Barbara Monti to future generations. Other items include a component from the “Chronographe 1887 Édition Limitée,” featuring a specially developed upper bridge in the shape of the brand’s shield emblem.
