Bulgari: Octo Finissimo in PVD-coated blue titanium

With the launch of the “Octo” in 2014, Bulgari created a collection that perfectly encapsulates the identity of the house, founded in Rome in 1884: Swiss watchmaking meets Italian design tradition.

Particularly striking is the distinctive geometry of the “Octo” case, whose octagonal shape was inspired by the architecture of ancient Rome. The interplay between the round dial, the octagonal bezel, and the faceted case gives the watches a sculptural, almost architectural appearance.

The models in the “Octo Finissimo” line combine this concept with an ultra-thin design. With this collection, Bulgari reinterprets the classic dress watch in an unmistakably Roman style. Back in the spring, the LVMH brand had already unveiled a new, more compact 37-millimeter version crafted from gold and titanium.

Next up is the “Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar,” featuring a perpetual calendar in a 40-millimeter titanium case that is 5.8 millimeters thick and finished with a blue PVD coating. It is a modern reinterpretation of the “Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar” introduced in 2021. This titanium model was awarded the “Aiguille d’Or” at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève and remains the world’s thinnest wristwatch with a perpetual calendar to this day.

The color-coordinated alligator leather strap and the lacquered dial with rhodium-plated gray hands and silver-plated hour markers complete the nearly monochromatic look.

Despite the wealth of information provided by the perpetual calendar complication, the dial remains uncluttered and easy to read. Precision is ensured by the ultra-thin, self-winding mechanical in-house caliber BVL 305, which offers a 60-hour power reserve. The movement measures just 2.75 millimeters in height—enough to accommodate the hour, minute, perpetual calendar, retrograde date display, day of the week, month, and leap year indicator functions.
