WATCH of the WEEK: Edition Unitas 1Z Blue by MeisterSinger

In its 25th year, the Münster-based watch brand—founded in 2001—has already unveiled several exciting new models. These include the “Panthero Jumping Hour, the “Archao,” and the “Edition Unitas 1Z.” The latter is now available in a striking light blue version with an enamel dial.

With the “Edition Unitas 1Z,” MeisterSinger paid homage to one of the most significant models in the company’s history during its 25th anniversary year: the first enamel edition from 2004. The brand incorporated its distinctive design into this new anniversary edition.

Now, this special MeisterSinger edition is being released in a new version. The new “Edition Unitas 1Z Blue” retains the technical and design features of the first model and reinterprets them with a light blue enamel dial. For the first time, MeisterSinger is using colored enamel accented with black, medium blue, and red details.

Enamel dial with colorful accents

Genuine enamel dials are particularly labor-intensive to produce. In a series of firing processes, finely ground enamel powder is applied to a copper blank and fired at temperatures of around 800 degrees Celsius.

Even the slightest variations in temperature or firing time can cause the dial to crack, warp, or become unusable. The resulting scrap rate is correspondingly high. Every successful enamel dial is therefore the result of great precision and patience on the part of the craftsman.

Elaborately Decorated Unitas 6497

Inside, the watch is powered by the ETA/Unitas 6497 pocket watch caliber, which offers a power reserve of 46 hours. This classic Swiss hand-wound movement was originally developed for pocket watches and is now rarely found in wristwatches. For the Edition Unitas 1Z, it has been elaborately decorated with Côtes de Genève and fitted with blued screws and a swan-neck regulator. The movement operates at a frequency of 21,600 half-vibrations per hour.

Its generous dimensions fill almost the entire 40-millimeter stainless steel case—which is water-resistant to 5 bar and was developed specifically for this edition. The large see-through case back makes the decorated movement the watch’s centerpiece. (MSRP: €6,990) meistersinger.com
