INSIGHT-RADAR: Industry News
The new INSIGHT-RADAR features a fresh start in independent haute horlogerie, a new jewelry line from Swarovski, and a high-profile appearance by Gerald Charles: Lotus Singapore Group secures the future of Christophe Claret, Classica translates the shape of the calla lily into 29 pieces of jewelry, and Robert Downey Jr. is once again wearing a Maestro 2.0 Ultra-Thin.
Christophe Claret Makes a Fresh Start with Lotus Singapore

Following the bankruptcy proceedings involving the Christophe Claret brand, the newly founded Lotus Two AG is taking over the brand name, assets, and intellectual property. The Swiss company, headquartered in Neuchâtel, is backed by a strategic partnership between Christophe Claret and the Lotus Singapore Group.
Claret will remain involved as a creative force and a member of the six-person board of directors. The new structure is intended to allow him to focus more on the development of complex mechanics, while Lotus Singapore contributes governance, capital, and international organization. The first new watches from this partnership are slated for release in late 2027 or early 2028.
For the independent watchmaking industry, the structure of this relaunch is particularly interesting: the name and expertise remain closely tied to their creator, but are given a new economic foundation. Whether this will result in a sustainably viable brand will only become clear once the first products are released and their positioning is established.
Swarovski Classica takes inspiration from the calla lily

With Classica, Swarovski is expanding its jewelry portfolio with 29 pendants, bracelets, rings, and earrings. Global Creative Director Giovanna Engelbert drew inspiration from the organic shape of the calla lily. Flowing lines and gently contoured surfaces are designed to allow the jewelry to lie close to the body.
The collection features recycled sterling silver, an 18-karat gold finish, and Swarovski zirconia. The collection is available in select stores and online. What’s interesting isn’t so much a single piece of jewelry as the shift in design: With Classica, Swarovski focuses more on an understated, everyday-wearable design language than on the particularly colorful and sculptural designs of other current lines.
Robert Downey Jr. plays Gerald Charles as Doctor Doom

At the Marvel Studios presentation for “Avengers: Doomsday” during Comic-Con International in San Diego, Robert Downey Jr. wore a Gerald Charles Maestro 2.0 Ultra-Thin in Emerald Green. The actor returns to the Marvel Universe in the film as Victor von Doom.
The green version—whether by chance or design—echoes a color closely associated with Doctor Doom. For Gerald Charles, the appearance is above all a powerful moment of visibility: Downey Jr. had previously chosen a watch from the brand at a film event. A single celebrity placement thus becomes, at the very least, a recurring association—even if no formal brand partnership has been announced.
