Mauron Musy MU05 nO-Ring Origin: Waterproof without a gasket
Ten years ago, Mauron Musy introduced nO-Ring, an unusual solution for the water resistance of mechanical watches: The patented system achieves 300 meters without using a single traditional gasket. The limited-edition MU05 nO-Ring Origin now commemorates the origins of this technology—with fragments of Christophe Musy’s handwritten calculations featured on the dial and bracelet.

Water-Resistant Without O-Rings
In conventional watches, elastic gaskets on the crown, crystal, and case back provide a significant portion of the seal. These components age and must be inspected or replaced during servicing. Instead, Mauron Musy developed a mechanical design in which precisely machined components and controlled forces seal the case.
After three years of calculations, prototypes, and physical tests, nO-Ring was unveiled in 2016. The technology is thus not merely an eye-catching brand feature, but the very foundation of the company’s design philosophy.
Christophe Musy’s Notes Become Design
For the anniversary edition, Mauron Musy drew inspiration from pages in Christophe Musy’s private notebooks. Excerpts from his formulas and sketches stretch across the dial and continue onto the strap. In this way, the design directly references the development work that normally remains invisible to the outside world.
The MU05 nO-Ring Origin is available in two versions, each limited to 13 pieces, for a total of 26 watches. The MU05-111 model features a Grade 5 titanium case, the skeletonized MM01-SK caliber, and details in a rose gold tone.
A Technical Anniversary Edition
Many anniversary models draw on historical colors or logos. Mauron Musy takes a different approach: the watch makes the design process itself the focal point. That is precisely why the design language functions as more than just decoration. It explains what sets the brand apart—a fundamental technical exploration of the construction of a water-resistant watch case.
The MU05 nO-Ring Origin will be unveiled at Geneva Watch Days 2026. Pricing information for the two versions has not yet been disclosed in this press release.
