Luminox Master Carbon SEAL 3880: Automatic Chronograph for Field Use
With the Master Carbon SEAL XS.3881, Luminox is expanding its 3880 series to include a mechanical chronograph for the first time. The new watch combines the line’s distinctive carbon case with the Sellita SW 500 automatic movement, 200-meter water resistance, and the permanent illumination provided by Luminox Light Technology.

The Master Carbon SEAL is one of the most dedicated mission watches in the Swiss brand’s lineup. Its roots date back to the early 1990s, when Luminox developed a watch to meet the requirements of the U.S. Navy SEALs. To this day, the name “SEAL” refers to this connection to the U.S. Navy’s special operations unit and to the collection’s functional standards. The new XS.3881 now adds a chronograph function.
Carbon for a 45-millimeter case
The case measures 45 millimeters and is made of CARBONOX+, a long-fiber carbon composite material used by Luminox. The material is designed to offer a high strength-to-weight ratio. According to the brand, it is three times lighter than titanium and twice as strong as conventional CARBONOX.
The distinctive carbon fiber pattern remains visible on the surface, giving this large watch its technical character. Weighing 121 grams, it is comparatively lightweight despite its 45-millimeter diameter and 17-millimeter height.

It also features a black bezel made of 316L stainless steel with an IP coating. The screw-down crown is also made of stainless steel. The dial is protected by anti-reflective sapphire crystal.
Sellita SW 500 and 62-hour power reserve
Inside is the Sellita SW 500, a Swiss-made automatic movement with a chronograph function and a 62-hour power reserve. A transparent section in the screw-down case back offers a view of the movement.

With the chronograph, Luminox is adding a feature to the Master Carbon SEAL that fits well with the series’ intended use. Time intervals can be measured directly—for example, during sports activities or while out in the field.
Visible when it gets dark
Luminox Light Technology (LLT) remains a key feature. A total of 16 luminous elements ensure constant readability in the dark. The gas-filled microtubes require no external light source and do not need to be charged beforehand.

Luminox states that the luminescence lasts up to 25 years. This makes the system significantly different from traditional luminescent materials, whose intensity slowly diminishes after absorbing light.
Engineered leather instead of rubber
The XS.3881 is worn on a black strap made of what is known as “Matrix” material, which Luminox describes as a technical, scratch-resistant leather. The surface complements the dark carbon case while remaining significantly more textured than a classic leather strap.
The black clasp, made of IP-coated 316L stainless steel, echoes the materials used in the bezel and crown.
For Water and Terrain
The Master Carbon SEAL XS.3881 is water-resistant up to 200 meters or 20 bar. CARBONOX+, stainless steel, sapphire crystal, and the screw-down crown form the technical foundation of a watch that is clearly positioned as a robust outdoor and utility watch.
With the automatic chronograph, the series is shifting somewhat more toward the realm of mechanical sports watches. The functional focus remains the same, complemented by a movement that plays a greater role in this collection than it has in the past.
The Luminox Master Carbon SEAL XS.3881 costs 2,745 euros or 2,645 Swiss francs.
With CARBONOX+, 200 meters of water resistance, permanent night visibility, and the Sellita SW 500, Luminox combines the well-known mission-style design of the Master Carbon SEAL with a mechanical chronograph for the first time
