Mondaine Doppio Mirror: Light and Depth
With the Doppio Mirror Edition, Mondaine is expanding its Doppio collection with a limited-edition model available in a run of 300 pieces. A mirrored dial ring adds a new touch and lends the clean design additional depth.
The Swiss watch brand Mondaine is best known for its models inspired by the design of Swiss train station clocks. With the Doppio collection, it takes a slightly different design approach. Clean lines remain the defining element, but are complemented by deliberately incorporated duplications and a three-dimensional dial design.
The new Doppio Mirror Edition focuses on the interplay of light, reflection, and spatial depth. A mirrored outer ring surrounds the black, concave dial, creating a contrast to its understated design.
Depending on the viewing angle and the angle of the light, the reflections on the surface change, making the curved design stand out to varying degrees. This adds an extra visual dimension to the clean, double-line design of the Doppio collection. The new MONDAINE Doppio Mirror Edition is limited to 300 individually numbered pieces and combines the collection’s signature design language with a distinctive creative touch.
Double Lines as a Design Principle
A defining feature of the Doppio collection is the double-lined hands and hour markers. These recurring elements give the otherwise minimalist dial a distinctive structure.
Added to this is the double-domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, which echoes the three-dimensional effect of the design. The mirrored ring complements this concept with a new effect without fundamentally altering the clear layout of the displays.
Slim case, Swiss quartz movement
The polished stainless steel case measures 41 millimeters in diameter and, at 7.5 millimeters thick, is relatively slim. Inside, it is powered by the Swiss Ronda 515 quartz movement with a date display.
A polished stainless steel Milanaise bracelet echoes the design of the case. The watch is water-resistant to 5 bar. Each of the 300 pieces bears a unique serial number on the case back.
With the Doppio Mirror Edition, Mondaine demonstrates how an existing design can be further developed through a few targeted changes. Instead of adding additional displays or technical complications, the brand focuses on the visual impact of materials, finishes, and light.
