Arnold & Son DSTB Stop-Seconds: Precisely Stop the Jumping Second Hand

Arnold & Son has added a stop-seconds function to the DSTB’s jumping seconds mechanism. The new stop-seconds function allows the strikingly designed True-Beat seconds hand to be precisely synchronized with a reference time. Two versions, each limited to 18 pieces, feature cases in rose gold or platinum.

Jumping second hand with stopwatch function

The DSTB—which stands for Dial-Side True Beat—relocates the jumping-second mechanism to the dial side. Unlike a conventional seconds hand, the indicator does not move in a series of small increments but jumps forward every second. The new version features a specially developed stop lever.

When the crown is pulled out, the lever stops the True-Beat seconds hand, which is under tension. This allows the watch to be set to the exact second. This mechanism is not only functional but also remains visible as part of the exposed movement—in keeping with the DSTB’s concept, in which the regulation of time itself becomes a design element.

Rose gold or platinum, 18 pieces of each

The 42-millimeter case is available in two versions. The rose gold version combines a finely grained “Cliff Grey” dial with warm metallic tones. The platinum version features a sand-colored “Kingsand” dial paired with an ink-blue alligator leather strap. Both models are limited to 18 pieces each and are water-resistant to three bar.

A&S6303 Automatic Caliber

Inside, the watch is powered by the A&S6303 automatic in-house caliber with a 55-hour power reserve. The design combines the classic automatic winding mechanism with the True-Beat construction, which is visible from the dial side. Arnold & Son thus revisits a historic theme in precision timekeeping, but translates it into a deliberately modern, three-dimensional display.
