OMEGA celebrates 10 years of Master Chronometer

A decade of precision and innovation

Since its founding in 1848, OMEGA has stood for the claim to build the most accurate watches in the world. With the introduction of the Master Chronometer Certification In 2015, the brand set a new standard for precision, magnetic field resistance, and reliability. Ten years later, OMEGA celebrates this promise of quality – and reflects on a decade of technical excellence.

From Chronometer to Master Chronometer

Before 2015, the traditional chronometer certification, which only tested the movement, was sufficient. OMEGA went further: In collaboration with the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) A testing procedure was developed that tests the entire watch in six positions, at different temperatures and under magnetic fields of 15,000 Gauss – with a required accuracy of 0 to +5 seconds per day.

More than a certificate

"Master Chronometer is more than just a certification—it's part of our DNA," says Raynald Aeschlimann, President and CEO of OMEGA. To date, over 2.5 million of the brand's watches bear this seal of approval. Thanks to continuously improved quality control, OMEGA has also been able to extend the warranty period for all models to five years—a sign of confidence in its own technology.

Laboratoire de Précision – the next step

With the opening of the new Precision Laboratory OMEGA 2025 is setting another precedent. The SAS-accredited laboratory conducts both chronometer and Master Chronometer tests, combining traditional watchmaking expertise with big data analytics. The goal is to capture every vibration of the calibers and thus redefine the limits of mechanical precision.

A decade of trust

With the Master Chronometer certification, OMEGA not only challenged the Swiss watch industry but also solidified its leadership in mechanical precision. What began with the Globemaster in 2015 now represents a new era of trust between brand and wearer—a promise that will continue for years to come.
