On August 1, Switzerland celebrates the founding of the Swiss Confederation, which traces its origins to the Federal Charter of 1291. This day is therefore an integral part of Switzerland’s cultural identity. It is well known that, among many other things, watches and punctual trains are part of this identity.

The clock draws on a motif familiar to many travelers at Zurich Central Station: the “Meeting Point” as a gathering place, landmark, and visual symbol in public space. This well-known station feature is transformed into a compact design piece that brings Swiss precision, clarity, and minimalist design into everyday life.
From the Train Station to Everyday Life
The miniature version is 17 centimeters tall and is based on a precisely proportioned cube measuring 50 × 50 × 50 millimeters. It rests on a slightly raised pedestal. The design incorporates the architectural structure of Zurich’s Meeting Point, including the circular symbol and the directional arrows that help visitors find their way at Zurich Central Station.
In this way, Mondaine transforms a public landmark into a small, sculptural object. The watch is both a timepiece and a design object: clean, functional, and instantly recognizable as part of the world of Swiss design.
A Swiss train station clock as the origin
The design is based on the official train station clock of the Swiss Federal Railways. Designed by Hans Hilfiker in 1944, it is one of the best-known Swiss design classics thanks to its excellent readability, distinctive hands, and red second hand.
Starting in 1986, Mondaine adapted this design into its own watch collection, thereby making the station clock famous far beyond the train platform. The Zurich Meeting Point continues this line as a design object.
Aluminum and Clean Lines
For the miniature edition, Mondaine has opted for a case and stand made of brushed aluminum. The case back is made of 316L stainless steel, and the crystal is made of tempered mineral glass. Inside, the watch is powered by a Swiss Ronda 513 quartz movement.
The design is intentionally minimalist. Silver-colored surfaces, a white dial, and the iconic Mondaine graphic combine functionality with a calm, modern aesthetic. This makes the watch a perfect fit for a desk, a nightstand, or any cozy living space, without being too obtrusive.
