Seiko Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver’s: The Community Chooses “Daytime Blue”

There were four colors to choose from, and the international Seiko community chose blue. The new Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver’s Watch Fan-selected Limited Edition embraces the “Daytime Blue” concept and combines an intense turquoise-blue dial with a color-coordinated bezel. Limited to 4,500 pieces, the diver’s watch will be available starting in October 2026.

Four times of day, one decision

The starting point was last year’s 60th anniversary of Seiko’s diver’s watches. Through social media, the brand held a vote to decide which of four color schemes—inspired by a day at the beach—should be released as a limited edition: yellow represented sunrise, blue represented daytime, green represented late afternoon, and red represented sunset.

The winner was “Daytime Blue.” The dial features an embossed wave pattern that lends the vibrant turquoise an added sense of depth. The connection to the sea is thus not limited to the color scheme: the wave motif has long been part of the visual language of Seiko dive watches.

A modern take on the 1965 diver’s watch

The technical foundation is the Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver’s, which was redesigned in 2024. Its stainless steel case measures 40 millimeters in diameter, 13 millimeters in height, and 46.4 millimeters from lug to lug. Features include a domed, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, a screw-down crown, and a unidirectional rotating bezel with an aluminum insert. The watch is water-resistant to 300 meters.

Inside, the watch is powered by the automatic Caliber 6R55. It offers a power reserve of more than 72 hours, a seconds stop, manual winding, and a date display. The stainless steel bracelet has also been designed with practical use in mind: the clasp can be finely adjusted at the push of a button, without the need for tools.

Limited to 4,500 copies

The Seiko Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver’s Watch Fan-Selected Limited Edition bears the reference number HBC011J1 and is limited to 4,500 sequentially numbered pieces worldwide. It is scheduled to be available in Germany starting in October 2026. The price is 1,550 euros.

Community involvement doesn’t technically change the watch, but it gives the color selection a clear origin. A standard new dial variation thus becomes the result of a global vote—and, at the same time, a look back at a day at the beach in four colors.
