Corum Admiral Ceramic: Three New Ceramic Models
With three new Admiral models, Corum is introducing ceramic into its time-honored sports watch collection for the first time. The new 39-millimeter models combine the redesigned Admiral case and integrated bracelet with blue or anthracite-colored ceramic. A third version combines ceramic with gold.
Ceramics Reach the Admiral
The Admiral was introduced in 1960 and, in 1983, adopted the maritime design language that remains associated with the collection to this day. In the generation redesigned in 2026, the historic signal flags were reinterpreted as trapezoidal hour markers; at the same time, an integrated bracelet and a new movement were added. The Ceramic Collection now consistently continues this reorientation.
Ceramic is harder and more scratch-resistant than steel, yet lighter and corrosion-resistant. For Corum, however, the appeal lies not solely in its practical properties. The material also alters the look of the twelve-sided case: the blue version emphasizes its maritime character, the anthracite-colored skeleton watch has a more technical appearance, while the two-tone version combines ceramic with elements of 5N gold.
Two calibers with a three-day power reserve
Inside, the watches are powered by the automatic CO231 and CO232 calibers, respectively. They were developed in collaboration with Concepto, a movement manufacturer owned by Corum. Both movements operate at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offer a power reserve of three days. The CO231 consists of 172 components, while the skeletonized CO232 variant consists of 181 parts.
The sapphire crystal case back reveals satin-finished surfaces, polished bevels, the grained mainplate, and the gold-plated rotor. In the open-face version, the movement’s architecture is even more prominently displayed on the dial side. All three models display hours, minutes, and seconds.
Integrated Ceramic Strip
The five-link bracelet extends from the case without traditional lugs. Satin-finished inner and outer surfaces alternate with polished links. This design is particularly challenging with ceramic, because while the hard material is highly scratch-resistant, it is more brittle than metal when subjected to intense localized stress.
The Development
The three models will be unveiled during the 2026 Geneva Watch Days. For Corum, the collection represents more than just a change in materials: Following the brand’s return to Swiss ownership and the comprehensive redesign of the Admiral, it demonstrates the direction in which the brand intends to evolve, both in terms of design and technology.
