Maurice Lacroix AIKON-IC Frozen Carbon: Six New Images of the Material

Maurice Lacroix is expanding the AIKON collection with the AIKON-IC Frozen Carbon. Six models combine the familiar case shape with a composite material whose random patterns make each watch look slightly different. At the same time, the new ML1000 automatic movement is making its debut in the line.

Frozen Carbon with Metal and Color

For Frozen Carbon, carbon fibers are mixed with metal powders or color pigments. Depending on the design, bronze or titanium particles, as well as red, turquoise, purple, or green color accents, are used. The irregular distribution creates a unique pattern reminiscent of frozen or mineral surfaces.

Six models, three limited editions

The collection includes six models. The limited-edition models include versions in bronze, Damascus steel, and the green “Deep Forest” variant. These are complemented by non-limited-edition versions featuring red, turquoise, and violet pigments. Ceramic bezels and rubber straps with a textile-like finish further emphasize the contrast in materials.

New ML1000 Caliber

Inside is the ML1000 movement, which Maurice Lacroix developed in collaboration with Soprod in the Saignelégier region. The average rate deviation is specified as −4 to +4 seconds per day, and the power reserve exceeds 60 hours. The movement is thus intended to mark a new milestone for the AIKON, not only visually but also technically.

Familiar Shape, New Finishes

The AIKON remains instantly recognizable thanks to its distinctive six-spoke bezel and integrated strap attachment. However, Frozen Carbon shifts the focus from pure geometry to the surface: light, particles, and fibers ensure that the watch’s appearance changes depending on the viewing angle and finish.

A Material Experiment with Mass-Production Potential

With six models, Frozen Carbon is more than just a single special edition. Maurice Lacroix is expanding this new material into a distinct facet of the AIKON collection and pairing it with a more powerful movement. The new model is thus aimed equally at collectors of limited-edition models and at buyers looking for a colored version that is available year-round.
