GPHG 2026: These 84 watches have been nominated
The Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève has announced the 84 watches nominated for 2026. The shortlist is divided into 14 categories, each featuring six models. It ranges from classic three-hand watches and more affordable new releases to tourbillons and chronographs, as well as jewelry watches, handcrafted one-of-a-kind pieces, and mechanical table clocks.
A jury composed of members of the GPHG Academy will select the winners. The awards will be presented at the 26th GPHG Awards Ceremony on November 7, 2026, in Geneva. We have already introduced the 24-member jury, chaired by Wei Koh.
A Broad Snapshot of Contemporary Watchmaking
The shortlist brings together major manufacturers and independent watchmakers in the same categories. Chopard is particularly well represented: the brand features six different pieces, ranging from the L.U.C 1860 to the mechanical table clock The Beehive. Audemars Piguet, Bulgari, and Parmigiani Fleurier each have four nominations.
In the technically demanding categories, the importance of independent watchmakers becomes particularly evident. Czapek, Dominique Renaud, Lederer, Vianney Halter, Ferdinand Berthoud, Sylvain Pinaud, and Rexhep Rexhepi are listed alongside brands such as Blancpain, Chopard, Louis Vuitton, and Ulysse Nardin.
However, the list should not be interpreted as a comprehensive ranking of the watch market. Only brands and watchmakers who submit their models to the competition participate in the GPHG. Consequently, major brands may be absent without this implying any assessment of their current collections.
Time Only: Focus on Time Display
The “Time Only” category highlights watches whose design and craftsmanship are intended to impress without additional complications.

More Than Just a List of Potential Winners
The 84 nominated entries represent various facets of today’s watch industry. Historically established manufacturers remain strongly represented, while independent watchmakers and newer brands are given comparable prominence in several categories.
Particularly interesting is the fluidity between disciplines. Sports watches feature perpetual calendars, jewelry watches become mechanical sculptures, and classic complications appear in increasingly distinctive designs. The two categories with price limits also demonstrate that the competition does not define design and technical innovation solely by material value and complexity.
Which watches will actually receive awards will be decided on November 7, 2026. Until then, the complete GPHG shortlist offers one thing above all else: a broad overview of what the international watchmaking industry is focusing on this year.
